Boot Rooms and Utility Rooms
Boot Rooms and Utility Rooms
Inglish Design Boot Room and Utility Rooms are a brilliant addition to your home. Every house needs a Boot Room and Utility room. Whether it is just for a cloakroom or laundry area, or certainly if you have children and pets! At Inglish Design we often design and install such areas. Sometimes simple, sometimes more challenging! We cover all of North Yorkshire and the Yorkshire Dales including, Harrogate, York, Richmond North Yorkshire, Darlington. We have installed basic laundry areas but have also taken on projects which have included dog showers and grooming areas, gun cabinets and hobby stores, and designated areas for sports gear and outdoor clothing. We have built in stacked washers and dryers, rotary irons, fridge freezers, wine cabinets, laundry chutes and baskets, – the list is endless!
At Inglish Design we are at your disposal – you can have whatever you want, and often things you might think to be unusual are pretty normal and we have probably done it before!!
Designing your Boot Room and Utility Room
Not all properties are lucky enough to have the space for this to be two rooms, so frequently this is one multifunctional room. This is when our experience and space planning skill is key. Sometimes the design and style can be driven by practicality, sometimes it is led by budget. As with all projects we discuss with the client then set out a brief. We measure the space then always try to provide the best practical solution, that ticks all the boxes and also looks great! Often the spaces are high traffic and need to be able to be durable enough for muddy boots, and wet clothes. We consider lifestyle, access to the space, and the users! – do we need a cupboard for dog food, space for a dog basket or hooks for dog leads? Do we need lower coat hooks for little people? How many people will use the space? Should we have personal areas? As you can see design is key!
Styling your Boot Room and Utility Room
How the area looks is also key. Even though it is a functional space it may very well be the space you enter daily – so it has to be welcoming and aesthetically pleasing as well. Most of the furniture we make is in a hand painted finish. But often an oak bench seat will break this up, and also be more durable. We nearly always include baskets. These not only look great but are brilliant for shoes, and other smaller items such as hats and scarves.
Installing your Boot Room and Utility Room
As always planning is key. The flooring in these types of rooms has to be durable and practical. Although we don’t install floor coverings, we can advise on this. Generally, this should be done wall to wall before we arrive. As with all projects at Inglish Design we will advise on the project role out and what needs to be done before we arrive to install your furniture. This way we can guide you and hopefully help to make the installation as quick and easy as possible.
