Luxury Kitchens in Harrogate – What should a luxury kitchen include ?
Inglish Design work on all types of kitchens for properties in Harrogate and the surrounding area. But what do we find people want from a luxury kitchen ? Below is a summary of what we have found to be the answer !
There is no doubt that a kitchen forms the hub of any home, and the trend over the past ten years has underlined this with most kitchen extensions and new properties providing kitchens which incorporate dining and entertaining areas. A luxury kitchen should not only add value to your home, but also enhance your lifestyle. Family kitchens that Inglish Design work on almost always include large islands with breakfast seating and feature lighting above. American side by side fridges, varied cooking appliances and well thought out storage are also a must. The Glossy magazines and internet means our clients are well educated on how a kitchens should look. The flood of celebrity TV chefs and their programmes have inspired people to cook, and shown them working kitchens. A luxury kitchen will include well thought out areas for food preparation, refridgeration, and food storage. Inglish Design have many years of bespoke kitchen design experience. We know how to build in all the mod cons and gadgets, while still making the kitchen look beautiful.
KITCHENS AS LIVING AREAS
Luxury kitchens should provide much more that just a cooking area. Its also about gathering, entertaining and having areas for specific tasks, often including an office or desk area, or informal seating area. More often than not luxury kitchens in Harrogate have an indoor/outdoor aspect to them to allow a driect connection to a terrace or outdoor area. Huge glass doors which open back to allow a large opening, or a glass roof or orangery to one end provide the real wow factor. In kitchens where this is not possible, the focus is on making the most of windows and there location, and of course good lighting design.
A LUXURY KITCHEN SIMPLY HAS TO BE BESPOKE
Inglish Design make bespoke kitchens, so this means everything is made to measure. Suddenly with a bespoke kitchen it means there are limitless options. We can design a kitchen which includes anything you want, so behind every door or drawer there is a purpose or a solution. It also means that your kitchen can be any style you want, in frame or concealed hinge, modern or traditional, hand painted or timber, high gloss or matt. Every element in a luxury kitchen is considered, carefully designed and planned and then well crafted so that it is made to last.
KITCHEN APPLIANCES
Kitchen appliances are key to luxury kitchens. Four categories – Refridgeration, cooking, cleaning and gadgets – and a vast range of choice and options available within these categories. Inglish Design can work with any appliance manufacturer, but for a luxury kitchen Sub Zero, Wolf, Miele, and Siemens are bound to make an appearance ! Boiling hot water taps have now moved on so that they also provide filtered and sparkling water, making them a must for your dream kitchen. Coffee machines, wine cellars, steam ovens and combi ovens, and of course warming drawers are also key features.
WORKTOPS
Inglish Design have found that in the last few years there is a definate trend away from black granite worktops and towards lighter colours. The look of white marble and pale limestone is what our clients want, but the durability of the material rules this out. This has driven the consumer to quartz composite products such as Silestone, which offer durability alongside a wider pallette of colours. However, its is a very different look to natural stone. With Inglish Design kitchens we we are finding is that clients are shopping around and exploring what is available in white/cream granite. There is something about the look of natural stone which cannot be challenged, so as well as offering full ranges of Corian and quartz based products, we are also exploring more options for our clients in paler shades of natural stone. In luxury kitchens there are often different types of worktops on display, so you will see some areas in granite, and others in for example solid timber. By doing this you can break up the look fo the kitchen, and put the right material in the right area.
KITCHEN DESIGN
In terms of style the handpainted kitchen remains unrivalled. It is a classic and timeless look, which has the ability to be completely changed over time simply by a new paint colour and new handles. Gloss kitchens are disappearing,(thankfully ) and taking their place are semi matt finishes – more durable and easier and more gentle on the eye. The overall look is simpler, but not clinical. The Farrow and Ball, Little Green and Zoffany colour palettes offer classic and opulent shades. Combining these with elements in for example dark Walnut, and perhaps exotic veneers give a very luxurious appearance. As always the devil is in the detail, and with any Inglish Design kitchen you can add elements which make your kitchen unique. Drawers can be lined in coloured baize or vinyl to add interest as you open them, feautre panels added to shaker doors, and of course the entire kitchen completed with statement handles.
