\nIt\u2019s common sense to use alcoves for wardrobes in a bedroom, built-in wardrobes either side of a fireplace not only looks timeless, but maximise storage space. You will add a feature to the room, and also add value to your bedroom with quality bespoke fixtures.\u00a0 Choose\u00a0 hand painted plain shaker doors for a simple elegant and classic look. If you have the luxury of high ceilings use as much space as you can and go right to the ceiling, this will provide cupboards above your wardrobes which are perfect for storing items not required every day such as spare duvets, sheets and towels, or maybe even hat boxes ! Painted bespoke wardrobes like this will match any style of bed or other bedroom furniture, and the great thing is that you can repaint at any time to suit your interior colour scheme. These sort of built in wardrobes are a great investment, and will use every inch of available space. Also by using the depth of the alcoves for your wardrobes you acheive storage space without eating into much of you floor space.<\/p>\n
\nFitted wardrobes are always a smart choice. They can be designed for the exact dimensions of your space, big or small, and you can plan the right combination of wardrobes, drawers and shelves for you. Their streamlined look stops rooms feeling cluttered and they are free of nooks and crannies that collect dust. At Inglish Design we often break a long run of wardrobes with a feature such as a bow front dressing table, or often we simply break front a section and add mirror or glass. This way you achieve a feature wall for your bedroom not just a block of cabinets. Mirrors or mirror panels will make the room feel larger, and also adds an air of glamour and luxury to any piece of furniture, and any room.<\/p>\n
\nIf too many fitted wardrobes leave you cold, consider the very on-trend option which is a walk-in wardrobe. Dressing rooms are the latest “must have” in property, and can maximise small areas while hiding everything behind a door. Existing storage cupboards\u00a0 and awkward areas can easily be designed to become extra stroage spaces or walk in wardrobes.\u00a0 If you have an adjacent bedroom you can steal some dressing room space off this, or if you property has a good number of bedrooms already you might even sacrifice one bedroom. Leaving the bedroom for beautiful feminine wardrobes and chest of drawers for the lady of the house. Most men require less wardrobes space, and if it is totally organised and well designed this can be an excellent way to divide “his” and “hers” space.<\/p>\n
\nA bank of floor-to-ceiling sliding doors is a popular way to make the most of potential storage space in a room; the doors usually run on tracks fitted to the floor and ceiling. There is no need for a carcass behind your doors, simple hanging and shelves work. Any look works in terms or modern or traditional doors, but large doors work better – so more often than not this lends itself better to a more contemporary bedroom.<\/p>\n
\nA wardrobe just for shoes and handbags might feel like an extravagance. But if your collection of heels is on the large side, and you can spare the wall space, it could well be worth it.
