A New Year, and perhaps a new project\u00a0 ? – a new kitchen ? perhaps a re model of your home and extension? or are you moving to a house which needs a new kitchen ? Whatever your plans, its good to know what is going to be on trend, whats hot and whats not ! Here are our kitchen design trend predictions for 2014.<\/h4>\n

Kitchen Design 2014<\/span><\/h4>\n

We predict that 2014 will see the end of\u00a0 the laquered and high gloss kitchens of previous years\u00a0 – horrah !… and thank goodness.\u00a0 Afterall, clean lines and a modern look can be achieved in a far more sophisticated way than the hideous retro kitchens which have absorbed the high street kitchen chains for the last ten years. Hand painted kitchens and semi matt painted kitchens provide a gentle look, timeless, and entrirely changeable to suit colour future colour trends.\u00a0 Handpainted eggshell kitchens suit any property, from Georgian Manor house to city loft –\u00a0 Inglish Design have the portfolio of\u00a0 kitchens to prove this !!! Pastel shades, muted earthy tones, and of course the already present shades of grey and white will continue to dominate the painted kitchen market. However, there will be the infusion of cobalt blues, and\u00a0 steel greys. This coupled with natural timbers and only light coloured worktops sets the scene for kitchen design in 2014.\u00a0 Open shelves, feature walls and integrated lighting are becoming more popular as more kitchens are now being designed to include entertaining and living areas. Also a common trend is including freestanding furniture within kitchens, allowing the client to take their furniture with them if they move house.\u00a0 Functionality is key and clever use of space. Todays kitchen customer is educated on whats available and wants integration, smart design, and a made to measure solution utilising their space well to enhancing their property to the maximum. The recession of previous years has taught the home owner the advantage of improving what you have. Moving house is costly, so why not improve what you have ? And with clever design you can give your home a key advantage over the house next door, so when you do put your house on the market you have unique selling points.\u00a0 Bespoke design and high quality fixtures and fittings are best way to invest in your home,\u00a0 enhance your lifestyle, and set your property up for the future.<\/h4>\n

Worktops<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0 – Granite and slate will become a distant memory, as quartz in its many options saturates the market. The turnaround being the choices in white and cream shades – which lets be honest granite could never give us. Quartz is also more durable, yet still looks natural. Quartz fills the gap between in the market perfectly – we have new colours arriving all the time and on display in our showroom. Our suppliers have a massive choice, and we can arrange for our kitchen customers to view the actual slabs they will have fitted as worktops.<\/h4>\n

Appliances –<\/span><\/strong> The chef culture continues to lead domestic kitchen design. For 2014 we qill see yet more of the large chef style appliances filtering through to the domestic kitchen. Appliances have to be all encompasiing – high tech, energy effecient, large capacity, multi fucntional, integrated…and of course look amazing ! Kitchen appliance manufacturers are racing to include all technology so that our kitchen gadgets link to to our home technology. Operating appliances from you phone or i-pad is the only way forward.\u00a0 Touchless controls are next, particularly with taps, not only do you not have to touch them with messy hands but they significantly cut down water use.\u00a0 We will see technology linking to all appliances, and the capacity of appliances increasing. Dishwashers will also receive a much needed overall, as new models will focus on direction of water jet, zone washing and water usage.<\/h4>\n

Technology<\/strong><\/span> – as well as appliances, technology will be integrated into kitchen design more than ever. The new “U” Socket is\u00a0 a must for all homes,\u00a0 with 2 usb outlets it can charge iphones, kindles, tablets, gaming devices and ipads, ans it also has a smart sensor so that once a device is charged it shuts off – another environmentally sound aspect. Kitchen design in 2014 will include everything needed to provide the user not only with a kitchen, but with a multi functional cooking, living and entertaining space.<\/h4>\n

Interiors<\/span><\/strong> – In terms of interiors the classical understated yet never ending variey of\u00a0 grey tones continue to dominate, but for true style combine these with sharp white. Pure white interiors with natural timbers is a key look, white washing and vintage are also key. 2014 will also see the introduction of the bold and the opulent. Aubergine, Dark Cobalt Blue, Brushed nickel and metallic, and rich earth tones will filter in as accent and feature colours. The trend for stripes is being replaced by pattern particularly vivid\u00a0 florals, and geometric shapes and these continue to increase in size whenit comes to both fabric and wallpaper.\u00a0 Read our Interiors 2014 blog next week for more on this !<\/h4>\n
